Hiran Point is a protected sanctuary located on the Pramatta Kunga River banks in the Khulna range in the southern part of Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest. Neelkamal is another name for Hiran Point, one of the world heritage declared by UNESCO. It is a famous place to visit in Khulna.

Being a sanctuary, Hiran Point has quickly become a safe, natural habitat for wildlife, reptiles, and birds, including monkeys, deer, and tigers.

4.Tomb of Birshrestha Ruhul Amin/বীরশ্রেষ্ঠ রুহুল আমিনের সমাধি

Mohammad Ruhul Amin (Birsrestha Ruhul Amin Grave Yard), the best martyr of the military title, is lying in sleep on the east side of the Rupsa river in the Khulna district. It is one of the most familiar historical place in Khulna.

On December 10, 1971, the brave freedom fighter was martyred in an enemy airstrike on a warship near the Khulna shipyard.

On Ruhul Amin’s Martyrdom Anniversary and Armed Forces Day, the Bangladesh Navy and the local administration pay homage at Rahul Amin’s cemetery by organizing various programs.

Mohammad Rahul Amin was born in 1935 in Baghpanchra village of Sonaimuri Upazila in Noakhali. He was the artificial officer of the Palash Gun Board given to the Navy of the Indian Government during the Liberation War in 1971.

On December 10, three gunboats, Palash, Padma, and Pavel, left Haldia Naval Base for Mongla port to capture The Pakistan Navy PNS Titu.

But when the gunboat Palash got very close to the Khulna shipyard, bombs and firing started from militant aircraft.

The Commander of Palash ordered everyone to leave the gunboat, but Ruhul Amin tried his best to keep the gunboat running. Suddenly a ball hit Palash’s engine room, and it was destroyed.

He was brutally killed by Pakistani soldiers and rajakars on the river banks when Birshrestha Rahul Amin reached the river bank with injuries.

According to family sources, Ruhul Amin’s body was lying on the Rupsa river banks for three days. Abdul Ghaffar of Rupsa police station buried Ruhul Amin in Bagmara village in East Rupsa char with villagers’ help.

Mohammad Rahul Amin was awarded the highest military title after Bangladesh became independent in recognizing its bravery, outstanding courage, and supreme self-sacrifice in the great liberation war.

After 24 long years, in 1994, the “Rupsa Reporters Club” and the Bangladesh Navy took over the responsibility of preserving and maintaining the tombs of Birshrestha Ruhul Amin and Bir Uttam Shahid Mahibullah.

The graveyard complex of Birshrestha Ruhul Amin and Bir Vikram Mahibullah has been constructed with 1.5 acres of land.

5.Khulna Divisional Museum/খুলনা বিভাগীয় জাদুঘর

On September 12, 1998, the second-largest Khulna Divisional Museum in Bangladesh was established next to the public hall adjacent to Shivbari Mor in Khulna district city.

Photographs of various heritage sites and other essential structures in the southern region are attractions of this museum.

Rare artifacts found by excavations at various places like Bharat Bhayana in Jessore, Barobazar in Jhinaidah, and Khan Jahan Ali Samadhi Soudho in Bagerhat have been preserved in Khulna divisional museum.

Apart from this, the Khulna Divisional Museum has artifacts of various antiquities of the Gupta, Pal, Sen, Mughal, and British period, terracotta, stone and black stone statues, gold and silver coins of the Mughal period, copper, iron, brass, clay, and glass sheets, toys made of various metals, weapons and used materials, calligraphy and various artifacts of various regions of Khulna division.

The Khulna Divisional Museum is currently under the supervision of the Bangladesh archaeology department.

Entry Fee & Time Frame

The museum is open from 10 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Saturday during summer. And it is open in winter from 9 am to 5 pm. There is a break from 1 to 1:30 pm.

The museum is closed every week on Sundays and other public holidays.

The museum is also open for half a day every Monday of the week. The entry fee at Khulna Divisional Museum is Tk. 15 (0.18$), for children under the age of five is Rs. 5 (0.059$).

And the entry fee for foreign tourists from SAARC countries is Rs 50 (0.59$), and the entry fee for visitors from other countries is Tk. 100 (1.18$).

Khan Jahan Ali Bridge is built on the Rupsa River in Jibananda, which is more popular than the rupsa bridge. The Japanese-aided Rupsa Bridge has become a fantastic destination for Khulna people during festivals and weekends.

Dokkhindihi village of Phultala Upazila has located just 19 km from the divisional city of Khulna. In Dokkhindihi village, there is a once magnificent Roy House and Rabindranath Tagore’s in-law’s house.

Rabindranath Tagore’s in-laws (Father-In-Law’s House of Rabindranath) are now known as the ‘Rabindra Complex.’ Rabindra Complex is both a famous and historical place in Khulna city.

There are busts of world poet Rabindranath Tagore’s wife and a two-story tower. The house has also been decorated by lush green gardens, paan barges, and nurseries.

It is heard that Rabindranath Tagore’s Masaradha Sundari Devi and aunt Tripura Sundari Devi were born in this south dihi village. In his youth, the world poet had visited his uncle’s house in this South Dihi village with his mother several times.

So Rabindranath Tagore’s father-in-law’s house has various arrangements for the poet’s birth and death anniversary.

In the beginning, this place is neglected with the memory of Rabindranath Tagore’s in-laws and the world poet. Due to this, many monuments of the poet could not be preserved.

Want to visit the best places in Khulna? Then Bangabandhu is a perfect fit to enjoy nature. Bangabandhu Island or Bongobondhu Dwip is located in the Bay of Bengal between Hiran Point and Dubalar Char, about 10 km from Dublar Char in Mongla Upazila Khulna division.

The char has about a 10 square kilometer area, located about 2 meters above sea level. Local fishers in the vicinity found Bangabandhu Island while fishing, but there was no specific information about char discovery.

However, in 1992, a fan of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Malek Farazi, landed on the island with two companions and later put up Bangabandhu Island.

The greatly endangered species of birds in Bangabandhu char meet the chamuchtunto batan and the Eurasian oysters. If luck goes well, the Irrawaddy dolphin will be seen in the river that flows by the char. On Bangabandhu Island, which has huge tourism potential, the construction of tourist destinations, watchtowers, etc., is currently under discussion.

9.Shahid Hadis Park/শহীদ হাদিস পার্ক

Shahid Hadis Park is a historical park located on Babukhan Road in Khulna, established in 1884 but later named after Shaheed Sheikh Hadithur Rahman Babu in a mass uprising on February 21, 1969.

A martyr’s minar has been constructed to imitate the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka at Shahid Hadis Park. Hadith Park has a vast lake. Shaheed Minar and water fountains have been built on the lake.

The city of Khulna can also be seen at a glance from the observation tower built at Shaheed Hadith Park.

History of Shahid Hadis Park

After establishing Khulna Municipality in 1884, the municipal authorities built the Khulna Municipal Park with the thought of entertaining the citizens.

Later, on June 16, 1925, Mahatma Gandhi, the hero of the non-violent movement, addressed the park, and in his honor, the park was renamed ‘Gandhi Park.’

On August 14, 1947, after the country’s partition, the park was renamed ‘Jinnah Park’ at reception for Muslim League leaders. On February 21, 1969, Sheikh Hadithur Rahman Babu was martyred by police at an anti-Pakistani dictatorial rally near the park.

On February 22, the crowd at the end of the funeral at the Martyrs’ Hadith prayer renamed the park “SShahid Hadis Park.”

Two trains from Dhaka, Sundarbans, and Chitra Express left for Khulna at 6.20 am and 7 pm, respectively. The Sundarbans Express is on a journey break on Wednesday, and Chitra express trains on Monday.

The ticket per person for boarding trains is Rs 505 (5.95$), Snigdha AC is Rs 840 (9.90$), and 15% VAT is applicable with the ticket price.

There are many beautiful places in Khulna City. Karamjal tourist spot is located on the banks of the Poshur River in Sundarbans. Under the forest department’s supervision, the tourist spot has been set up on 30 hectares of land about eight kilometers from the Mongla seaport.

Karamjal is the most suitable place if you want to taste the Sundarbans tour in a day. Various animals, including crocodiles, deer, and rhesus monkeys, enhance nature’s beauty.

Besides, wooden trails, towers, and fishers’ fishing personnel are additional receipts. Karamjal is the only crocodile natural breeding center in Bangladesh.

It takes one to one and a half hours to reach the Karamjal tourist spot by engine-operated boat from Mongla. The first of the tourist destinations on the Sundarbans map gives the initial idea of the map about the Sundarbans.

The entry price for Bangladeshi and foreign tourists to Karamjal tourist destination swells to Rs 20 (0.24$) and Rs 300 ( 3.54$), respectively.

Bangladeshi students and researchers can enter for Rs 20 (0.24$) and Rs 40 (0.47$). However, foreign researchers must count Rs 500 (5.90$) to enter karamjal. Anyone under twelve has to cut a ticket of Rs 10 (0.12$) to enter Karamjal.

The charge for Bangladeshis is Tk. 200 (2.36$) and for foreigners Tk. 300 (3.54$) for entering with video cameras. It is good to say that 15 percent VAT applies to all prices here.

How to go to Karamjal Tourist Spot

From Gabtoli or Sayedabad bus terminal in Dhaka, Meghna Transport (01717-17388553), Tourist Transport (01711-131078), Sakura Transport (01711-010450), Sohag Parivahan (01718-679302), etc. left for Khulna. After reaching Bagerhat, You can hire a boat to Karamjal from Mongla port in Bagerhat.

Besides, karamjal tourist destinations can also be visited from Morelganj, Sharankhola, and Rupsa in Khulna.

In this case, Sundarbans and tourist service buses will cost Rs 500 (5.90$) to Rs 600 (7.07$) per person from the Saidabad bus stand to Mongla.

It may cost Rs 1000 (11.79$) to Rs 1500 (17.68$) to hire an engine-powered boat suitable for 10 people from Mongla Ferry Ghat.

It is possible to stay overnight in the Sundarbans in a tourist vessel or at the Neelkamal in Hiranpoint, Kachikhali at Tiger Point, and the Forest Department’s Rest House Katka.

Katka is one of the most diverse places in the Sundarban mangrove forest, located about 90 kilometers north of Mongla port. It is a great visiting place in Khulna city.

There is a 40-foot tower in Katka, which offers splendid views of the Sundarbans’ natural beauty. The Kataka Watch Tower is Straight North Of The Kataka Beach.

Katka beach is known to locals as Jamtala beach. The crab’s artwork is visible all over the deserted and clean beach. Katka beach merges straight east into Kochikhali.

For a 50-foot to 100-foot launch, a one-time payment of Rs. 10,000 (117.90$) is paid, and the renewal fee is Rs. 3,000 (35.37$). The boat below 50 feet costs 7,500 (88.42$) taka, and the renewal fee is 2,500 (29.48$) taka.

The common trawler can stay in Sundarbans at Rs 3,000 (35.37$), with a renewal fee of Tk. 1500 (17.68$). The speedboat has to pay a fee of Rs. 5,000 (58.95$) it takes 2,000 (23.58$) taka to renew.

Those known as jaliboats to they have to pay a one-time fee of Rs. 2,000 (23.58$) and a renewal fee of Rs. 1,000 (11.79$).

In addition to the travel fee of the forest department, other expenses include Tk. 500 (5.90$) per day for guide, Tk. 300 (3.54$) for security guards, Tk. 70 (0.83$) for launch crew, Tk. 200 (2.36$) for telecommunication fee. During Ras Purnima in Sundarbans, pilgrims have to pay a fee of Rs 50 per person for 3 days, the registered trawler fee is Tk. 200 (2.36$), the unregistered trawler fee is Rs 800 (9.43), and the trawler fee is Tk. 200 (2.36$) for daily stay.

How to go to Katka Beach?

At present, about 100 agencies are engaged in the tourism business in Sundarbans. You can quickly go to Sundarbans with good tour management. You can go to Katka through these people of the establishment.

If you want to stay in Neelkamal, domestic tourists will need 3,000 (35.37$) taka per room and 5,000 (58.95$) taka for foreigners. Kachikhali will cost 3,000 taka (35.37$) per room and 5,000 taka  (58.95$) for foreigners.

It will take 2,000 (23.58$) taka per room to take a cut and 5,000 taka (58.95$) per room for foreigners.

There is not much residential hotel to stay in in Bagerhat. Mumtaz Hotel on Rail Road has inadequate facilities, but its quality is relatively good, but the cost is a little higher. You can also check for accommodation in other hotels around the hotel.

The tourism corporation has hotels to stay in Mongla. There are some typical quality hotels for tourists to stay in the animal port.
