1.60 Dome Mosque/Sixty Dome Masjid/ষাট গম্বুজ মসজিদ
60 Dome Mosque (Shaat Gombuj Mosque) is a World Heritage Mosque in Bangladesh located in the Bagerhat district of the Khulna division.
There was no accurate information about the prestige and construction of the 60 Dome Mosque, as there was no inscription of the mosque.
However, Khan-E-Jahan is believed to have been built in the 1500s after seeing the mosque’s architecture. The stones used in this mosque were brought from the palace.
The 60 Dome Mosque is one of the world heritage sites in Bangladesh. UNESCO gave Bagerhat city the status of a World Heritage Site in 1983.
Structure and description of 60 Dome Mosques
The mosque is about 160 feet north-south from the outside and about 104 feet long in the east-west. And about 143 feet in the north-south and about 88 feet in the east-west. The walls of the mosque are about 8.5 feet thick.
There are 11 large arched doors on the eastern wall of the mosque. The middle door is the largest of the other doors. On the north and south walls, there are 7 doors each. It has four round minarets at each corner. The trunk of each minaret has a round dome.
The minarets are a little higher than the roof cornish. There are two minarets in front of the mosque: the Roshan room and the other is called the darkroom. Inside the minaret are twisted stairs. Earlier, there was a provision to give a yan from this minaret.
There are a total of sixty pillars inside the mosque. The pillars are arranged in a total of 10 rows from north to south in 6 rows. Each pillar is made of stone, but 5 pillars are covered with bricks.
The roofs of the pillars are covered with domes. There are 77 domes in 11 rows in this mosque. The minaret has 81 domes, each with four domes. Most of the domes are semi-round, except seven in the middle row of a mosque’s mihrab.
There are 10 mihrabs on the western wall of the mosque. The middle mihrab is large and crafty. There are 5 mihrabs on the south side and 4 on the north. There is 1 small door in place of 1 mihrab on the north side.
According to many, Khan-E-Jahan used this mosque as a courthouse, and this door was its entrance. About 500 meters behind the Shatgumbuj Mosque is the Mosque of Bibi Begoni.
Visit the flower-carved mosque if you have time. Within 500 meters of Bibi Begoni’s mosque is another mosque called Chunakhola. Singair Mosque is also on the side of the highway.

Entrance to the mosque premises requires a ticket of Rs 20 per person for Sixty domes. For foreign visitors, the entry ticket costs Rs 200. (Ticket prices may change over time)
60 Dome Mosque Opening and Closing Time
The fort is closed for the entire day on Sunday and reopened at 2.00 pm on Monday. During the summer, the fort is open from 10 am to 6 pm. In winter, the fort was open from 9 am to 5 pm. In winter and summer, the fort was closed between 1 pm and 1.30 pm. On Fridays, the fort is closed for Jumma prayers between 12.30 am and 3.30 pm.
How to Go to The 60 Dome Mosque?
Several buses carrying Meghna, Bonoful, Ara, Projotok, Baleshwar, Hamim, and Dola leave the Saidabad bus terminal in Dhaka from 6 am to 10 am every day, 7.30 pm to 10 pm. Likewise, Sohag, Shakura, Hanif, and Eagle transport vehicles leave the Gabtoli bus terminal.
These buses cost Rs 300 to Rs 400 per person. However, from the Bagerhat bus stand, a rickshaw fare of only Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 can be taken to Shatgumbuj Masjid.
Additionally, the Sundarbans Express train will arrive in Khulna from Dhaka, and you can travel to 60 Dome Mosques by bus or CNG from Khulna. Khulna is about one and a half hours long.

There is not much good accommodation to stay in Bagerhat, but there are some medium-quality residential hotels. Mumtaz Hotel on Rail Road has low facilities, but the quality is relatively good still the cost is a little higher.

2.Khan Jahan Ali’s Shrine/Khan Jahan Alir Mazar/খান জাহান আলীর মাজার
To see Khan Jahan Ali’s shrine (Khan Jahan Ali Mazar), you have to go to the Bagerhat district of the Khulna division. Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali (R:) Although he was born in India, he came to Preach Religion in Jashore, Bagerhat region of Bangladesh.
He was the one who built the famous 60 Dome Mosque in Bagerhat. According to many, Khan Jahan Ali came to Bangladesh from Arab countries via Delhi. Although there is not much information about his personal and family life, researchers believe that Khan Jahan Ali Sultan Giasuddin Azam shah was a contemporary.
Khan Jahan Ali was a close friend and general of the then Gaur Sultan Nasiruddin Mahmood Shah. As a Sultan’s representative, Khan Jahan Ali created a township in the Bagerhat area and named it “Khalifat-E-Abad.” In line with the arrival of 360 Auliyas, he built 360 mosques and excavated 360 dighis (big pond) in the Bhati region.
Khan Jahan Ali died on Wednesday, October 23, 1459. His tomb has been constructed on the north bank of Khanzeli Dighi. Khan Jahan Ali’s tomb is square. The wall of the monument is 25 feet high and has a dome on its roof.
Inside this tomb is a stone altar located at the shrine of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali. The Architecture Of Dargah Or Mazar Is Very Similar To The Shat Gumbuj Mosque. Every year, the annual Orsh Mubarak is held at 25 Agrahayan at Khan Jahan Ali Shrine in Bangla Year Calendar.

3.Ronobijoypur Masjid/রণবিজয়পুর মসজিদ
Ronobijoypur Masjid with a dome is located in Ronobijoypur village, about 5 km west of the Bagerhat district. Locals refer to this mosque as the mosque of Darya Khan, which has the largest dome of any mosque in Bangladesh.
The location of Ronobijaypur Mosque is just 1.5 km east of the 60 Dome Mosque. It is believed that during the reign of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali in 1459, Darya Khan, the companion of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali, built the Ronobijoypur Mosque.
The thick brick wall has 56 square feet on the outside of Ronobijoypur mosque and 36 square feet in size on the inside, and the wall of the mosque is about 10 feet wide. There are 3 mihrabs on the west side of the mosque and 3 doors on the remaining three sides.
The main mihrab in the middle is larger out of the 3 flower-designed mihrabs. In addition, there are 4 circular minarets built in Khan Jahani architecture in the corner of the Carnish mosque in Bakra.
The only dome of Ronobijoypur Mosque is also quite interesting to see. Besides, the terracotta ornaments on the walls of the mosque are particularly noteworthy. How to go to Ronobijoypur Masjid
You can travel from Dhaka to Bagerhat district by bus and train. Buses like Meghna, Shakura, Porjotok, Hanif, Sohag, and Eagle ply on the Dhaka-Bagerhat route from The Capital’s Gulisthan or Sayedabad via Aricha or Mawa Ferryghat.
The fare will be Rs 500 to Rs 1200 per bus. In addition, from Kamalapur Railway Station, inter-city Kapotaksh Express, Chitra, Rupsa, and Sundarbans Express trains travel to Bagerhat via Khulna.

4.Kodla Moth/কোদলা মঠ
Kodla Math, one of the oldest artifacts of the 17th century, is located in the Ayodhya village of Baruipara Union in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. The monastery is also known to many locals as the monastery of Ayodhya.
The distance of this monastery from the World Heritage 60 Dome Mosque in Bagerhat is about 10 km. According to the inscription received from Kodala Moth, the monastery was built by a Brahman hoping to gain the favor of Tarak Brahma.
According to other sources, the Kodla Monastery was built as a monument to his guru Abilama Saraswati at the initiative of Pratapaditya, one of the twelve Bhuyans of Jashore. Mainly the memory of King Pratapaditya of Bagerhat and a shining sign of the rich Hindu tradition and architecture of Bengal.
The architecture of Kodla Moth is completely different and self-contained. The aesthetically crafted monastery influences temples built in the Odisha region in the 16th century AD in “Rekha” samples.
The pyramid-shaped architecture built in the form of peaks or lines on the rectangular interior is known as the Nagara style in the Indian region. The height of this smooth brick wall is 18.29 meters above the ground, and the length of each square wall inside is 2.61 meters.
There are three entrances on three sides other than the wall to the north of the monastery. The attractive design of the burnt soil to the south side of the main entrance is noticeable.
And on the outside of the monastery are the five niche multi-sided walls, and terracotta carved ornaments are the most interesting aspects of the Kodla Monastery. 5.Singair Mosque/Singain Masjid/সিঙ্গাইর মসজিদ
Singair Masjid (Singair Mosque) is located in Sundarghona village adjacent to Khulna-Barisal highway in Bagerhat district, one of the oldest townships of Bangladesh.
It is believed that during the 15th century, during the Mughal rule, Khan Jahan Ali (R) built this historic dome mosque. The distance from the 60 Dome Mosque to Singair Masjid is only 25 meters.
Dome-shaped square mosques measure (12.04 x 12.04) meters in size and are 2.10 meters thick. There are four round buruzs in the corners of the mosque’s cornice, square in shape.
With similar features to the Shatgumbuj Mosque, The Singair Mosque has 3 arches on the east side and 1 each on the north and south sides with 5 arched doors. But the middle door is larger than the 3 doors on the eastern wall.
On the western side of the mosque is an ornate mihrab. Similarities can be seen in mihrab and door side ornaments. Singair Mosque is a cool place to take photos in Bagerhat.

6.Nine Dome Mosques/Noy Gombuj Mosjid/নয় গম্বুজ মসজিদ
Bagerhat is the city of the mosque, and the historic Nine-Dome Mosque is located to the southeast of Khanjahan’s tomb.
Built in the 15th century, the square mosque has a length of 15.24 meters on each wall and a thickness of 2.23 meters. There are nine semi-circular domes on the roof of the mosque. There are four unique pillars inside the mosque to provide stability to the domes.
Three entrances can be seen on the eastern, north, and south walls of the mosque. And on the western wall are 3 lovely mihrabs.
The central mihrab is larger, but every mihrab is adorned with terracotta flowers, creeper ornaments. The four corners of the nine dome mosque are round turrets, surrounded by eight brackets in brick design.
The small curved Karnesh’s carvings are not known. The dome mosque represents the architectural artifacts of Khan Jahan (r). The Zinda Pir Mosque and Shrine is near the Nine Dome Mosques.
It is currently an artifact preserved under the Archaeological Department of Bangladesh.

7.Bagerhat Museum/বাগেরহাট জাদুঘর
Bagerhat Museum is located on old Rupsa Road in the southeast corner of 60 Dome Mosque at Sundarghona in Bagerhat district.
In 1973, an international appeal was made to preserve Muslim culture and Khan Jahan Ali’s memory. The museum construction began in 1995 on a 520 square meter site jointly organized by the UNESCO-Bangladesh government in 1995.t. The Bagerhat Museum was opened to the public in September 2001.
In the construction of museum buildings with sixty dome mosques, Islamic architecture has been prioritized. The south-facing museum with three galleries offers the opportunity to view archaeological artifacts collected from different parts of Bagerhat and learn about Bagerhat’s ancient history.
Pictures of mosques and archaeological architecture across the country and the historic crocodile mummy of Khan Jahan Ali are unique attractions of the Bagerhat Museum.
Notable artifacts also include various monuments, coins, utensils, documents, maps, and recorded history.
Entry Price & Schedule of Bagerhat Museum
Bagerhat Museum is open from 10 am to 6 pm in summer, and 9 am to 5 pm in winter. And every day the museum is closed for a temporary break from 1 pm to 1.30 pm.
The museum is closed for a full day on Sundays and half a day every Monday.
The ticket entering the Bagerhat museum is priced at Rs 15. But children under the age of 5 are allowed to enter free of cost.

8.Kochikhali Beach/কচিখালী সমুদ্র সৈকত
Situated to the east of the Kataka River in the Sundarbans, the Kachikhali beach, known as the land of natural beauty, is a beautiful sight. Along with the beach, there are wildlife sanctuaries and tourist destinations.
The Sharankhola range of the Sundarbans has the most beautiful beach! To reach the beach, you must travel approximately 3 km of the wild path inside the Konka River and the Sundarbans, the Khardhara of Mohana, in Bengal.

The daily travel fee for domestic tourists in sanctuary areas is Tk. 150, for students – Tk. 30, travel fee for foreign tourists is Tk. 1500. Travel fee for domestic tourists outside the sanctuary – Tk. 70, students – Tk. 20, travel fee for foreigners – Tk. 1000 and travel fee for researchers – Tk. 40.
The travel fee for domestic tourists in Karamjal is Tk. 20 per person and Tk. 300 for foreigners.
A one-time fee for helicopters/Seaplanes is Rs. 30,000, a fee of Rs. 10,000 for renewal. 15,000/- for launch above 100 feet, a renewal fee of 4,000 Taka.
For a 50-foot to 100-foot launch, a one-time payment of Rs. 10,000 is paid, and the renewal fee is Rs. 3,000.
A boat below 50 feet costs 7,500 Taka, and the renewal fee is 2,500 Taka. The typical trawler can stay in Sundarbans for Rs 3,000, with a renewal fee of Tk. 1500.
The speedboat has to pay a fee of Rs. 5,000, it takes 2,000 taka to renew. For those known as jaliboats, they have to pay a one-time fee of Rs. 2,000 and a renewal fee of Rs. 1,000.
Apart from the travel fee of the forest department, other expenses include tk. 500 per day for guide, Tk. 300 for security guards, Tk. 70 for launch crew, Tk. There is a fee of $200 for telecommunication.
Domestic tourists have to pay Rs 200 for video cameras, and foreign tourists pay Rs 300.

9.Chandramahal Eco Park/চন্দ্রমহল ইকো পার্ক
Chandra Mahal Eco Park is an eco-park and picnic spot located in Ranjitpur village next to the Khulna-Mongla highway in Bagerhat district headquarters. The Eco Park has a Taj Mahal-shaped building called Chandra Mahal.
In 2002, Salim Hooda built the Eco Park on about 30 acres and named it Chandramahal after his wife, Naseema Huda Chandra. Chandra Mahal Eco Park visitors were captivated by Chandra Mahal’s beauty.
The golden color of the building reflects the sunlight and creates a strange atmosphere. Chandra Mahal is surrounded by water on all sides, so to go to the main building, you have to go to the tunnel under the water.
Various archaeological artifacts are kept in the Chandramahal to entertain visitors. 10.Mongla Port/মংলা বন্দর
Mongla Port is located at the junction of Animal and Mongla River at Selabunia Mouza in Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat district of Khulna division. Established on December 1, 1950, Mongla port is the second largest seaport in Bangladesh.
The distance from Khulna to Mongla port is 48 km. The port is located about 100 km north of the Bay of Bengal. The Mongla port is connected to other inland river ports and railway terminals in Khulna.
The Port of Mongla is open 24 hours a day for unloading goods, with a maximum of 225 meters longships entering it. About 3 million metric tonnes of goods are imported and exported by about 400 ships through anchors at Mongla port every year.
The port has eleven jetties, seven sheds, and eight warehouses for loading and unloading of goods. There are also twelve anchor slots floating deep in the river. Mongla port authorities have constructed a rest house considering the sailors to be at Hiran Point in Sundarbans.
The port of Mongla was originally built 18 km above the Poshur river. On December 11, 1950, when the port opened for foreign ships, it shifted to its present location in Mongla in 1954, considering the greater benefits of ship anchoring.
Although the Mongla port is connected to almost all ports globally, most ships come from Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Europe, and North America.

11.Dublar char/দুবলার চর
Dublar Char is a small beautiful island on the south side of Bangladesh, part of the Sundarbans, southeast of Hiran Point, and southwest of Kotka.
Dublar Char is best known for Hindus holy baths, rasmelas (a fair), and deer. The isolated Dublar char has woken up between the river of Kunga and the dead animal.
All the families of Dublar Char are fishermen, so it is called Jele Polli. Fishing is also a part of it, as well as swine.
During the rainy season, fishermen from Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Satkhira, and Khulna came to Dublar Char to build temporary settlements.
The pig was sanctified and sold at the wholesale market in Asadganj, Chittagong, with a shunt from Dublar Char. Fishing can only be done in Dublar char with permission from the headquarters of the Eastern Division at Bagerhat in the Sundarbans.
Every year, in the month of Kartik (November), a three-day rasmela of Hindus is held at Dublar Char. Domestic and foreign tourists from far and wide rushed to see the nearly 100-year-old Rasmela.
Usually, the trawler or tourist vessel hired to graze the Dublar has the facility to stay and eat at night and everything else.
