Kayangan Island is an oblong island located close to Makassar city. Visitors from the boat can see the beauty of this island. The proximity of Makassar to this tourist spot has made it one of the most popular places to spend the holidays for Makassar residents.

The island has a white sand beach and a panorama of the island that is so beautiful and exotic. Originally, Kayangan Island was known as Meraux Or Marrouw Island. This island is a small coral island covering an area of 2 hectares.

Where is Kayangan Island?

Kayangan Island is located within Bulo Gading Village, Ujung Pandang District, Makassar City, which is just eight kilometers away from the city center. 

The island can be reached by visitors only about 15 minutes by boat, with a tariff of PP Rp. 40.000 (2.76$).

The pier to get to the island is located in Ujung Pandang, precisely in front of Fort Rotterdam. Crossings are available from 08:00 to 20:00 daily, and boats are available every 30 minutes.

This tourist area has complete facilities, such as resorts, guesthouses, entertainment stages, restaurants, playgrounds, sports arenas, and fishing grounds.

If you want to stay here, you can book a room in advance. The cost to stay here is around Rp. 100.000,- to Rp. 400.000 (6.91$-27.64$).

What Interesting Things to do in Kayangan Island?

Kayangan Island offers beautiful and exotic scenery. You can start enjoying the island from the moment you are on the boat.

From a distance, the island looks very small and surrounded by white sand. However, the clear seawater and some shallow waters in many parts of the island provide an excellent gradation.

When you get here, you can start the journey by walking along the coastline. You can walk without slippers to feel the softness of the sand.

When you come during the day, the temperature will be scorching. But, you don’t have to worry because there are many trees along the beach. Under the trees or umbrella tents, you can relax while enjoying the beauty of the beach while accompanied by the breeze of the beach.

When you look at the west side, you can see a group of small islands. These islands look beautiful in the middle of the sea. And when you look to the east side, you will see the big ships from a distance.

When you feel hungry, you can go straight to the restaurant, which looks like a pier. The restaurant offers a wide variety of menus and offers panoramic views.

You can also enjoy the beauty and atmosphere at sunset while enjoying food and drinks from the beach.

All tourists from this island can see Makassar city. At night, the light from Makassar city will look like fireflies.

Security on the island is very tight. Security personnel is on standby for 24 hours to reassure visitors that this tourist area is safe.
